Everything about this wedding made my heart happy. The love in the air, the bright, bold colors, the maids’ rich earth tone dresses, the bride’s stunning wedding dress reminiscent of papel picado and the way the florals appeared to naturally belong to the historic Casitas Estate effortlessly blending in and complimenting the Spanish architecture. The personal handcrafted details and how they all complimented each other so perfectly, just like home. The exuberant energy from the bridal party and how all of it seamlessly fit together so well under the expert direction of Sandcastle Celebrations, Janet Tacy.
Truth be told, as a designer and Arroyo Grande Florist and beyond, I’ve found it can sometimes be a challenge when couples want to provide their own vessels for arrangements, because there are SO many variables in doing so. When Sophia suggested she’d like to incorporate touches of her personal pottery artwork in the wedding design, I was intrigued. From one artist to another I can appreciate the craft and all the hard work it takes pouring your heart into something that you love.
I agreed to create arrangements that would fit into her unique vessels and what a wonderful surprise it was to see the fabulous end result. Each one of the lovely pottery pieces used as centerpieces and accents throughout the wedding reception was handcrafted with love by the lovely Bride Sophia herself for the wedding, and afterward for her and Matthew to keep and cherish for all their days forward. Each one was so unique and masterfully crafted. It’s so fun to see all the creative things couples come up with that add that special touch to their wedding day.
